SENATOR ENGLISH LAUNCHES RE-ELECTION BID

"Kalani Cares; Kalani Delivers" is campaign theme

Wailuku, Maui - Senator J. Kalani English, (6th Senatorial District: Hana, East & Upcountry Maui, Moloka`i, Lana`i and Kaho`olawe) today filed as a candidate for re-election with the Maui County Clerk at the Kalana O Maui Building.

"Independence Day celebrations inspired me to formally file as a candidate for re-election to the Senate," said English. "During these times when our country is engaged in global conflicts, we are called to public service and have a duty to make our best contributions for the common good. Today, I recommit my full and best efforts to the people who've elected me and promise that I will represent the islands of Maui, Moloka'i, Lana'i and Kaho'olawe, and work hard to deserve your trust every day."

"This year we're focusing on his record of leadership and accomplishment," said Leona Bak Nomura, campaign chair. " 'Kalani cares; Kalani delivers,' that's the campaign theme and there's plenty of success to prove our case."

As chair of the Energy and Environment Committee in the Senate, and a member of the Ways and Means Committee, Kalani has proven his ability to deliver results through non-partisan teamwork.

"If you look at the record, his leadership is clear – the man cares about the people, the land and sea, and he delivers meaningful change in service to all," noted Upcountry businessman and owner of Ali'i Kula Lavender, Ali'i Chang.

Dr. Emmett Aluli of Moloka'i said, "He's our Senator, representing our islands! We're proud to support his re-election."

"With his background serving on the County Council and now in the Senate, Kalani knows our islands and he cares about the people," said Yuki Lei Sugimura.
