The Maui Chamber of Commerce's Political Action Committee has announced its endorsements of "business-friendly" candidates in state House and Senate races before the Aug. 11 primary election.
The candidates are all Democrats and mostly incumbents.
They are: Sen. Roz Baker for the 6th District Senate seat (South and West Maui); Sen. J. Kalani English for the 7th District Senate seat (East Maui, Upcountry, Molokai and Lanai); Rep. Troy Hashimoto for the 8th District House seat (Wailuku, Waikapu, Waiehu, Puuohala, Kahakuloa and Waihee); Rep. Justin Woodson for the 9th District House seat (Kahului, Puunene, Old Sand Hills and Maui Lani); Rep. Angus McKelvey for the 10th District House seat (West Maui, Maalaea and north Kihei); Don Couch for the 11th District House seat (South Maui); Rep. Kyle Yamashita for the 12th District House seat (Upcountry, Spreckelsville and parts of Kahului); and Rep. Lynn DeCoite for the 13th District House seat (East Maui, Molokai and Lanai).
To receive the chamber's endorsement, the candidates needed to submit to an interview and then get scored on questions based on the chamber's positions, priorities, values and current issues.
